Polish residue removal from plastic trim??

I realise the whole cleaning/sealing/waxing post has been done in great detail, but I couldn't find any tips on how to successfully remove polish from the plastic wheel arch surrounds. Crying or Very sad

I did use Meguires plastic trim detailer which brings the trim up a treat, but after a few weeks when the Meguires washes off, back comes the polish residue, like a rash!! Shocked The Meguires trim detailer does a good job of covering it up but does not remove it.

The small whitish mark on the plastic trim (centre of pic) is what I'm refering to....

I've tried using Dulux Prepsol, and similar product with no luck. Any other suggestions??
Thanks
Moby

tooth brush and a small amount of petrol (very small) , mop up with a rag dont rub .
then reseal with your meguires. Thumbs Up ,

if you know some one in the auto repair trade , get a bit of panel wipe (the liquid they used to rub down a panel before they paint )from them and use in the same way as above instead of the petrol.

Hi Barry,
The Prepsol I used is the stuff you wipe down panels with to remove wax residue before painting, but it didn't work Shocked . I didn't use a toothbruch though, so i'll give that a whirl...
Cheers

Yep... cost me about 5k but strangely it only shows up on certain angles and usually when on my driveway. A bit like that pearlessence magic paint stuff...

Find a bottle of SWMBOs nail polish/varnish/whatever remover and dab a bit onto kitchen roll of a cotton bud and rub the stain carefully in a circular motion over and over to loosen and weaken the mark, then use hot water on a cloth or sponge etc. to try and wash it off.

Can't guarantee results but it's worked for me before.

And, could be worse (Admittedly not polish though, more a driveway gate...)

I know they are bloody everywhere, but what were the Poles doing to your car to leave a residue on it Rolling with laughter

If I was you I'd stop using the car wash service in Tescos if they are going to do that to your beloved car Very Happy

A couple of Autoglym's products can be used for this. Give them a ring, they are very helpful. Their number is on the back of one of their products in Halfords!

I would not use any solvent, nail polish remover or the like. Just use rubing alcohol from your friendly pharmacy.

Our supplier of polishes, mops etc, tells us to use Iso propanol to clean the white residue off. I don't know if you can get it at the local motor factors
