Excuse my ignorance, but for tyre insurance, what is the relevance of the age/mileage of the vehicle? Why is this a restriction? Confused

I have got this cover and I believe it does not cover mtr or any other tyres when used off road

Just had a claim without a hitch for a written off tyre due to a screw

As said above, how is car age, mileage and service history relevant to tyre damage or punctures? You drive over a nail, what difference does your service history make? Am I more likely to get my tyres slashed if my car has over 75k on the clock? Seems pretty ridiculous to me. Maybe there's a good explanation, but I can only imagine as usual this is insurance companies looking for any excuse to not pay out. Probably find the first time you have a genuine claim, you will suddenly realise that you just hit 76k so no new tyre!

Insurance premium tax (IPT) went up to 6% from 4 January this year.

Age of a vehicle is likely to affect claims experience. Older cars will invariably have more claims for a range of reasons. Underwriters are likely to be more nervous of older vehicles.
