Loadspace Cover - Life Changing

It's more than likely that every single Discovery owner apart from me knows this, but today I discovered the load space cover fits further along its rail, just in front of the tailgate, to provide cover when all 7 seats are in use.

Sorry, just had to share the moment ...

It also slots between rows 2 and 3 when all the seats are folded flat. Very thoughtful Thumbs Up

Not only to cover the loadspace but to ensure the rear rear passengers aren't able to use the cover as a chin rest Thumbs Up

You'll later discover that the other great place for it is the cupboard under the stairs, alongside the locking nuts and adaptor from the wheels.

My Top Tip Idea

With the bungee net secured to the anchor points,
you can pull the Load Cover down vertically.
Secure the ends in each anchor point [tensioned by bungee net] behind the rear seats.
This gives you hidden storage accessed behind the rear seats.
So from the outside your boot looks empty.

When staying away, I don't like leaving the Load Cover closed as I've had a few break-ins where scum think I'm carrying stuff in my boot.
I use this method with items that are not that expensive [but scum don't know that] as I don't want to lug everything from my boot up to the room.

I also lay an orange card on the boot floor stating "It's Empty"
So far so good Thumbs Up

BUT if the rear-most two seats are already up you cannot locate the load cover into its holdings behind them....the seats have to be folded (slightly) forward. Unless anyone knows a trick which doesn't involve shards of broken plastic they wish to share...

Ah, I haven't tried that, so that's why I couldn't get the loadspace cover into the slots behind row 3. I even consulted the manual.

Also, the groove on top is the perfect place to store an umbrella, without it rolling all over the boot space Thumbs Up

Like the cargo net idea. Might be a reason to get one.

. . . . And there are a pair of slots, so that when the cover is fitted right behind second row seats you can open it half way. Presumably because, if it goes all the way back and you are under 5'6" in height, you can't reach far enough in to bring it back.

I ‘won’ a loadspace cover on ebay last night, it’s missing from the D3 I’m picking up on Saturday.

I’m looking forward to receiving it even more now, should give me and the smaller Nashers hours of fun trying out all the different ways of fitting it.
