| Cam belt tensioner mount broke!!!!...... |

The engine stopped last Sunday morning with a suspected cam belt failure, but after pulling the front off it today the casting that the tensioner bolts too had broken releasing the tension on the belt 
Spent the rest of the day then pulling all the bits and pieces off ready to lift the engine out after taking the gearbox off, and then another engine going in next week. Anyone doing their cam belt should take a close look for any signs of a fracture, mine looks like it had been broken for quite a time but only held on by a very small portion of the casting which gave up last Sunday on the motorway. I can resist everything except TEMPTATION

115K had a cam belt about 12K ago. Belt was not the problem it's still like new. I can resist everything except TEMPTATION

It would be nearly impossible to spot unless you knew about it. I can resist everything except TEMPTATION

Problem fixed  I pick up a 2 year old XS commercial tomorrow in Stornoway with heated leather , satnav , auto and Bluetooth and will fix the other at my leisure. I can resist everything except TEMPTATION

When you had the cam belt change did you get the tensioner changed as well? D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Yes the idlers and tensioner were changed, it's the casting where the idler bolts to that has broken I can resist everything except TEMPTATION

I thought you meant the tensionner not the casting for it's mount. I don't suppose Land Rover will want to know given the mileage, but it shouldn't fail.
What year is your car? Just concerned that their would be a batch with dodgy casting. D3 HSE MY05 Auto
