Off to Northumberland soon for family holiday. Can anyone suggest any (none damaging) routes we can take with the Disco and FL2? As you slide down the banister of life

Flinty is the man to ask. If I could think of anything intelligent, poignant or witty, I'd put it here !!!

There is an online definitive map of Northumberland which is a fantastic resource for finding rights of way in the county.
This one shows byways :
http://maps.northumberland.gov.uk/prow/fro...;Width=614
and this one shows highways (or "streets") :
http://maps.northumberland.gov.uk/gazettee...;Layer3=on
It takes a bit of geting used to but great once you get the hang of it. The highway map in particular took me a long time to master. Its all about using different "layers". Set the layers to show "Streets" and "TRO's" on the 1:50,000 base map (and untick all other options) then it will show you every route which is designated as a "street" or highway. Obviously most of these are normal tarmaced highways - but if you look carefully and know the areas you will find there are greenlanes (or untarmaced streets) on here which aren't classified as BOATS on the other map.
Where abouts in Northumberland were you planning on going (its a pretty big county) ? There are many lanes around and most (but certainly not all) are D3 friendly. Bit more care needed in a FL as some deep ruts and washouts can have them scraping their bottoms. If you want, PM me with your area of choice and I can suggest some routes. Disco 4 TDV6HSE

I think Loopyles does a Kielder 4x4 run....might be worth asking him ? Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.

If I'm not too late drop me a line, nice route North to South or vice versa and FL / D3 friendly!
