I like my Oztent - fine in torrential rain as long as you have the fly sheet fitted and quick to put up.. plus you can stnd up in it.
bit big and bulky , and not everyones cup-of-tea !! Duncan

Khyam for me .... simple to erect, and roomy enough
Good enough for Landrover, then good enough for me [Khyam make the G4 tents] Guns and Landrovers ..... anything else is irrelevant.

If you are after an Oztent or a Jet Tent give me a shout.
None of the tents mentioned so far are exactly lightweight or small in packed size. Typically all the tents mentioned will weigh somewhere between 18-24kg. Typical packed size of Oztents are 200 x 20 x 15 cm whereas Jet Tents or Khyam are 115 x 30 x 30 cms
If you have any questions about Oztents or Jet Tents give me a shout

Right before somebody shoots me down in flames, how do oz tents handle heavy snow?
The thread starter asked for an all year tent ?
I have a similar tent to the one Ray linked to, I think it is really good all year round.
But its heavy to carry, and is a big wind trap wind the wind picks up. With lots of stones to hold the stormflaps down it is OK.
If I am going long on foot or by ski or windy conditions are forcast then my trust Mountain Hardware Trango 4 comes out.
While paddling the tippe style has proven it was difficult to pitch as the rock island was difficult to bash tent plugs into. Again the Trango works better as it is selv supporting.
I like the tipee style as you can have a log burner, stand up inside and dry clothes.
The unfortunate thing with the log burner is that it gets too hot sometimes (I have to listen to Mrs CnW and not stoke it up until it glows red )
The thread starter needs to think all the uses it wil be used for, I like Ray have many different tents to suit different purpose, I have yet to find 1 fits all.
Will the tent be used just in campsites or places with lots of soil to pitch ? what conditions will it be used in? How many people will it need to house ?
My 50p RLD Sump plate.
RLD sill protector
RLD hidden winch.

The Oz tent will handle heavy snow OK on the main tent with the fly sheet. But the extended piece ie the area infront making use of the side panels and front panel wont fare to well as the snow well collect on the roof.
(unless you keep a nice warm fire going to melt it off before it sticks ) Duncan

if its really windy or cold then the best accomodation is a double mattress in the back of the D3/4 Duncan
